MICROFLUIDIC FLOW CONTROL SYSTEM EZ
The MFCS™-EZ is a modular microfluidic flow controller. 4 channels are available with different pressure ranges for high precision operations in microfluidic experiments. By using the FASTAB™ microfluidic patented technology, the MFCS™-EZ generates a constant pressure-driven flow rate that allows for reliable and repeatable experiments.

1. EASY TO USE
The MFCS™-EZ can be controlled by Fluigent Softwares to automate your protocols. Moreover, this microfluidic pressure-pump can easily be connected to other microfluidic devices such as flow units to allow a pressure and a flow-rate control.
The MFCS™-EZ can provide negative or positive pressure at you convenience by using up to four independently controllable channels. In addition, this microfluidic pressure pump can easily be integrated into you setup with its OEM version thanks to our Software Development Kit (SDK).

3. RELIABLE AND REPRODUCIBLE RESULTS
The FASTAB™ microfluidic patented technology used in this pressure pump avoid cross contamination because liquids only contact air. Moreover, the reliability and the reproducibility of the experimental results by using MFCS™-EZ is possible thanks to the generation of a pulseless flow.

FASTAB™ Microfluidic Patented Technology
Legacy microfluidic control systems such as syringe, peristaltic or piston pumps are poorly adapted to the manipulation of fluid volumes in the sub microliter range, leading to long equilibration times, irreproducibility and pulsation.
To solve this, Fluigent developed the patented FASTAB™ technology: a pressure driven technology that has no moving parts and includes an advanced feedback control algorithm to maintain precise pressure control.
Based on the FASTAB™ technology, the MFCS™ series are compatible with any microfluidic application, from simple droplet generation to organ-on-a-chip experiments.

The Flow Unit is a high-precision individual flow sensor used for direct flow control. The Flowboard is a hub that manages communication between Fluigent Software and up to eight Flow Units.
The FRP is required for flow rate control with MFCS™
Many microfluidic applications require expensive solutions to be injected at a controlled flow-rate into a microfluidic system, such as cell cultures, PCR processes, cell injections or simulation of blood capillaries with a controlled minimal mechanical stress.
Many microfluidic applications require switching between multiple solutions (such as samples or buffers) while maintaining a constant flow-rate during the course of their experiment. In this application, one MFCS™-EZ pressure channel is connected via a manifold to ten separate vials containing different aqueous solutions.
Because CTCs detection and labelling need a very precise and smooth flow control, Fluigent MFCS™ associated with the Flow-Rate Control Module and the ESS™ platform, was the designated choice to be able to efficiently control the flows of all the solutions and samples.
- Connect the MFCS™-EZ as described on the previous question.
- Connect the power supply and the USB cable to your computer.
- Press the Play button.
- Set the right inlet pressure on the display, according to the value written on the nameplate at the MFCS™-EZ back (below, the right value is 1300mbar).
Launch MAESFLO™ software
- The right value you have to set is written on the nameplate at the MFCS™-EZ back. In this example, it is 1300mbar
Turn the scroll wheel of the black manual regulator to adjust the pressure on the MFCS™-EZ display according to this value.
