MFCS™-EX: EXTENDED FLOW CONTROL
MICROFLUIDIC FLOW CONTROL SYSTEM EX
The MFCS™-EX is a modular microfluidic flow controller. 8 channels are available with different pressure ranges for high precision operations in microfluidic experiments. By using the FASTAB™ microfluidic patented technology, the MFCS™-EX generates a constant pressure-driven flow rate that allows for reliable and repeatable experiments.
MAIN MFCS™-EX BENEFITS
- Easy to Use
- Adaptable
- Reliable and reproducible Results
Benefits
The MFCS™ Series is the first generation of microfluidic systems. The MFC™-EX provides up to 8 negative or positive pressure channels to pressurize multiple fluid reservoirs. It can have an integrated pressure source or be coupled with the FLPG+, an external pressure source, for those who don’t have access to a laboratory bench mounted gas source.
1. GET SUPERIOR RESULTS RAPIDLY
Reach your targets at the blink of an eye and get your experiment started instantaneously.
2. RELIABLE AND REPRODUCTIBLE RESULTS
The FASTAB™ microfluidic patented technology used by MFCS™ series avoid cross contamination as there is no direct contact between the instrument and the reagents.
The pulseless and precise control enabled by our pressure-driven technology is critical for repeatable results in many applications.
3. ADAPTABLE TO ANY EXPERIMENT
The MFCS™-EX provides up to 8 negative or positive pressure sources to perform multiple experiments (all available pressure ranges are listed below). The instrument can be automated with our powerful MAT software and easily integrated with any set-up using our Software Development Kit (SDK)

Automated protocol with MAT
The Microfluidic Automation Tool (MAT) is a unique program for developing and running time-based experiments. Its drag and drop interface allows for quick and easy protocol creation. It can control the 2-SWITCH™ and other Fluigent valves as well to:
• Benefit from functions such as repeat, if, wait until, … for the development of complex protocols
• Ability to load and save protocols
• Integrate all Fluigent valves and instruments devices or support other external instruments (requires TTL signal)

RELATED APPLICATIONS
FLUID RECIRCULATION FOR CELL PERFUSION WITH REDUCED SHEAR STRESS
Many microfluidic applications require expensive solutions to be injected at a controlled flow-rate into a microfluidic system, such as cell cultures, PCR processes, cell injections or simulation of blood capillaries with a controlled minimal mechanical stress.
SEQUENTIAL FLUID INJECTION & DELIVERY WITH PULSE-FREE FLOW
Many microfluidic applications require switching between multiple solutions (such as samples or buffers) while maintaining a constant flow-rate during the course of their experiment. In this application, one MFCS™-EZ pressure channel is connected via a manifold to ten separate vials containing different aqueous solutions.
AUTOMATED RARE CELLS CAPTURE AND LABELLING
Because CTCs detection and labelling need a very precise and smooth flow control, Fluigent MFCS™ associated with the Flow-Rate Control Module and the ESS™ platform, was the designated choice to be able to efficiently control the flows of all the solutions and samples.
