MICROTAS 2018 IN KAOHSIUNG, TAIWAN
A major event for the microfluidic field
MicroTas addresses scientists and engineers working in miniaturized systems for chemistry and life science who are interested in keeping current in the areas as well as to share knowledge with other professionals.
MicroTAS International Conference gathers companies and researchers to report research results from multiple fields such as microfluidics, microfabrication, nanotechnology and integration. It also offers plenary talks as well as contributed oral presentations and posters. Over 900 worldwide scientists and professionals engaged in research on/and the use of integrated microsystems attended the 2018 edition as did we.
This year the twenty second International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (µTAS 2018) has been held at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan from 11-15 November, 2018. µTAS 2018 continues a series of Conferences that are the premier forum for reporting research results in microfluidics, microfabrication, nanotechnology, integration, materials and surfaces, analysis and synthesis, and detection technologies for life science and chemistry. Following Savannah in 2017 and before Basel next year the Taiwan venue is an exciting hub for nano, bio, and medical research.
In this article we present the highlights of our participation to this year’s edition.
"New Developments in Microfluidics Application-Oriented Solutions"
As it is kindly arranged by the conference, the industrial stage of 20 minutes was the perfect place to introduce our latest innovations in microfluidics, microfabrication, nanotechnology and integration for life science and chemistry field.
During this talk titled “New developments in microfluidics application-oriented solutions“, we presented our latest innovations, at the cutting edge of the pressure-driven flow control technology. If you wish to learn more, download the presentation or contact us.
New Microfluidic Products & Solutions
Fluigent develops, manufactures, commercializes and support innovative fluid handling solutions for a variety of rapidly growing applications. Fluigent is the first company to introduce pressure-driven flow control to the microfluidic research market, as opposed to conventional syringe and peristaltic pumps. We want to reduce the overall cost of experiments, experimental time and decrease sample and reagent consumption. We keep working on new solutions to achieve these goals. This year we introduced several of them:
- New 2-switch: New design and boosted performances for fluid sorting and injection.
- Recirculation module: designed to guarantee a unidirectional flow inside the microfluidic chip/flow cell this module ensure long-term closed circulation and controlled shear stress.
- dSURF: a high-performance surfactant suited for production of highly monodispersed and stable microdroplets which allows forbetter microdroplet preservation a longer lifespan. Go to product page »
- PX Series: for integrated fluid handling in OEM systems this series of miniaturized pressure controllers combine excellent performance with the robustness required in demanding industrial environments. Learn more about our OEM solutions »
Microfluidics isn’t just about serious applications, it can be sometimes used for fun.
Many examples on YouTube show how people match microfluidic with music to create beautiful videos. Just to mention a few, have a look at Folchlab videos. Fluigent also participated in such video when the french team won the last football world cup: see it here
But we decided to go even further. In 2015 Fluigent introduced at MicroTAS the microfluidic PacMan. Attendees on the booth had to use our pressure-driven instrument to move the fluid to get PacMan through a maze avoiding ghosts and other obstacles.
This year we put our heads together to bring you something even better and introduced at MicroTAS 2018 Crazy Driver. In this microfluidic based game, attendees had the control of the road to ensure the crazy car didn’t run off the road. The use of the Flow-EZ dial enables a rapid and precise control of the game.
Fluigent history at MicroTAS
The 21st International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (µTAS 2017) has been held at the Savannah International Trade and Conference Center in Savannah, Georgia, USA from October 22 – 26, 2017.
Last year, MicroTAS was the occasion to introduce the most advanced pressure controller: le Flow-EZ™
The Twentieth International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (µTAS 2016) has been held at the Convention Center Dublin in Dublin, IRELAND from 9 – 13 October 2016.
France Hamber, our managing director of Fluigent GMBH, Simon Renard and our President of Fluigent, Inc, Robert Pelletier were there to exchange with you on your expertise in microfluidics and on your experience with Fluigent’s products.
The Nineteenth International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (µTAS 2015) has been held at Hwabaek International Convention Center (HICO), Gyeongju, KOREA from October 25 – 29, 2015.
This year was the occasion for you to discover our first Fluigent Game: The microfluidic PacMan.
The Eighteenth International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (µTAS 2014) has been held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, USA from October 26 – 30, 2014.
MicroTAS Texas was the occasion for the opening of our new USA branch to participate in such a big event.
The Seventeenth International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (µTAS 2013) has been held at the Messe Freiburg in Freiburg, GERMANY from 27 – 31 October 2013.
